Cyberpunk 2077 Expansion Announced

CD Projekt RED has announced an expansion to first-person open-world RPG Cyberpunk 2077. The expansion, Phantom Liberty, was announced as part of a new Night City Wire presentation, which also included a look at the upcoming Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series produced by Studio Trigger and a new update for the game, also titled Edgerunners.

Phantom Liberty will feature a new group of characters, though Keanu Reeves will return as Johnny Silverhand, and sees player character V entering a new area of Night City. The expansion is planned to release in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia, with no mention made of a release on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Meanwhile, the Edgerunners Patch 1.6 is now available on all platforms. The patch, which has its full list of changes available on the game’s official website, includes the option to set an outfit without changing armour stats, as well as new gigs, new weapons, and a cross-progression feature. It also includes some crossover content with the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series, as well as various bug fixes and technical improvements.

Cyberpunk 2077 was released for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia in December 2020 and is based on Mike Pondsmith and R. Talsorian Games’ Cyberpunk tabletop RPG. The game follows V, a player-created character in Night City who is left for dead after a failed heist and becomes entwined with the legendary figure Johnny Silverhand.
