RPGamer Round-Up: April 11 – April 18

Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we take a look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous week. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

Twenty-three years after the original game’s release, Square Enix’s SaGa Frontier Remastered is now available. Paul Shkreli finds that the enhanced graphics and new story content refresh the challenging PlayStation game for modern audiences.

A totally new cast arrives in the third game in the Bravely series. Anna Marie Privitere notes that in its attempt to recapture the nostalgia of a bygone era, it defaults to some tropes while being largely successful in updating a classic job system.

Sometimes cynicism teaches us who we are and what we want to become. Sam Wachter checks out Taco Pizza Cat Games’ Don’t Give Up: A Cynical Tale for an interesting take on life, love, and the self-insert.

Late Night Games’ cyberpunkdreams is a free-to-play text-based RPG set in 2090s Cincinnati. Alex Fuller was able to give the game’s beta a try ahead of its public Steam release next month.


Major News

Square Enix provided new details and media for Final Fantasy VII Remake Episode Intermission, the additional story chapter starring Yuffie included in the PS5 Intergrade release. The update includes more details on Yuffie’s combat abilities and the reveal of the new English voice cast members.

Modus Games confirmed a specific launch date for Dreams Uncorporated and SYCK’s Cris Tales. The game will let players manipulate time in the second half of July.

Wasteland 3’s first expansion arrives in June. It sees the Rangers heading to the factory complex of Steeltown, where it seems likely at least one fight will break out.

BioWare and EA give an in-depth look at their process for updating the sci-fi trilogy. A new trailer also offers a first-hand look.

After launching on Steam Early Access in January, Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights has been given some full launch dates. The game will hit PC and Switch in June, with PS4 and PS5 versions arriving in July.

Tactical Adventures’ Solasta: Crown of the Magister will be exiting Early Access soon. The full version launches for PC in just over a month.

This week in Q&A Quest, the hosts are very tired. But they do manage to discuss the release of SaGa Frontier Remastered.

It’s another explicit week, as Sam calls Chris poopy. Anna Marie can’t understand Dutch (even though she likes to think she does), while Pascal imagines he’s eating a sausage. Josh is slowly falling under the spell of Mass Effect Stockholm Syndrome, and somehow Chris is equally obsessed with shoes, jeggings, and dead Google products. Save us.
