Additional Content Being Added to NieR Replicant

Square Enix has released a trailer for its upcoming action RPG NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139… showcasing free additional content available in the remaster. The extra content features the return of the protagonist from NieR Gestalt, a new story arc, DLC dungeons from the original Japanese release, along with music, costumes, and cameos from some NieR Automata cast members.

The extra episode, titled “Mermaid”, will add a new scenario to the game and will feature a wrecked ship, a young girl, and an enormous Shade. The extra dungeons, titled “Fifteen Nightmares”, will add new challenges and rewards such as new weapons, costumes, and the option to change enemy bullets to appear as Emil’s face. Players can unlock the option to switch to background music from NieR Automata after completing the game for the first time. English and Japanese voice actors from Automata will also be featured in the game. Finally, players will be able to download the “4 YoRHa” costume pack for free, enabling them to wear outfits from Automata.

NieR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139… is a remaster of the Japan exclusive NieR Replicant which featured a young male protagonist. Western audiences received NieR Gestalt which followed an older, grizzled protagonist. Both games follow the same story, with the only difference being in Replicant the sickly child Yonah is the protagonist’s sister, while in Gestalt Yonah is his daughter. The game is set to release for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in Japan on April 22, 2021, and in North America and Europe on April 23, 2021. The game will also release worldwide for PC via Steam on April 23, 2021.
