Nioh 2 Goes Toe to Toe with Yokai in New Trailer
To coincide with a playable demo at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Koei Tecmo and Team NINJA have released a new trailer for the upcoming action RPG, Nioh 2. The trailer focuses specifically on some of the Yokai the player must fight, creatures based on traditional Japanese mythology that act as large-scale boss fights in the game. The developers have stated that the Yokai selected for the game are chosen carefully, such as Mezuki, the latest saw-wielding addition playable in its current TGS demo. Also on display in the demo are lesser creatures known as Sudama, and the game’s opening level, the Village of Cursed Blossoms, juxtaposing the beauty of blooming cherry blossoms with menacing evil.
Nioh 2 is the sequel to 2017’s historical action RPG that followed William Adams as he made his way through a demon-plagued Edo-era Japan. The game’s current release window is set for early 2020, with only PlayStation 4 announced as platform.
