Bungie Takes Over Destiny Publishing Rights

Developer Bungie has announced that it is taking over the publishing right for Destiny. The announcement will see the studio splitting with publisher Activision, the latter of which had held the rights since the series’ announcement in 2010.

Destiny is a series of online first-person-shooter RPGs. The first game was released in 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, while Destiny 2 was released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2017. The games take place in a “mythic science-fiction” setting roughly 700 years in the future after humanity has colonised the other planets in the Solar System. However, those colonies were destroyed by an event known as the Collapse, which has been followed by invasions from outside alien species.
