Mary Skelter 2 Sees Pre-Launch Trailer, More Systems Detailed

Two new gameplay systems featured in Compile Heart’s dungeon crawler Mary Skelter 2 have been revealed in the days leading up to its Japanese release. Players can use the Try Jail system to impose limitations like “status down” and “skills unusable” on their party in return for additional rewards for overcoming greater odds. The Jail Manage system lets players influence which combat effects will appear on the Jail Bonus Roulette when it activates. These include recovering HP or SP, lowering SP cost for party members, netting greater amounts of money or Blood Crystals, or just pure and simple dishing out of damage.

Mary Skelter 2 is set to be released for PlayStation 4 in Japan on July 12, 2018, and includes a remake of the original game using the sequel’s upgraded systems. No announcement has been made regarding a potential localisation, though publisher Ghostlight recently announced that predecessor Mary Skelter: Nightmares will be released for PC later this year. A six-minute pre-launch trailer, viewable below, has also been released.
