Village in the Shade is set in the Japanese mountain village of Kagatsu. Players look to settle down in the village, planting crops, customising their homestead, and befriending various characters. However, the village is home to various secrets, and inhabitants are expected to follow the rules: don’t talk to strangers, don’t leave the village, and don’t go out at night. Players may seek to learn the secrets of the village by flouting the rules at their own risk. The game also includes a Sunshine Mode, where players needn’t worry about breaking the rules and the consequences that come with it.
