Village in the Shade Content Update Plans Announced
NIS America has announced additional content plans for upcoming adventure farming sim Village in the Shade. The game will release in North America and Europe for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 on October 29, 2026. For its launch, the western release game will receive two free patches coming to the game’s currently available Japanese release that add new furniture, livestock, and catalog features, plus farmland expansion, a new protagonist birthday event, and more. In addition, the game will receive paid DLC in spring 2027 that adds additional scenarios, new gameplay systems, new standalone events, and new maps. NIS America has also released a soundtrack preview video for the game.
Village in the Shade is set in the Japanese mountain village of Kagatsu. Players look to settle down in the village, planting crops, customising their homestead, and befriending various characters. However, the village is home to various secrets, and inhabitants are expected to follow the rules: don’t talk to strangers, don’t leave the village, and don’t go out at night. Players may seek to learn the secrets of the village by flouting the rules at their own risk. The game also includes a Sunshine Mode, where players needn’t worry about breaking the rules and the consequences that come with it. Those looking to read more can check out RPGamer’s recent preview.
