Octopath Traveler, Octopath Traveler II Switch 2 Versions Announced

Today, the eighth anniversary for the series, Square Enix announced dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 versions of Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II. The Nintendo Switch 2 versions of the game are available now digitally in Japan, and are set to be released digitally and physically (as game-key cards) in North America and Europe on October 1, 2026. The games will be available individually for $59.99 or as a bundle for $74.99. There will not be an upgrade option from the Nintendo Switch versions, and Nintendo Switch save data will not be compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2 versions.

Octopath Traveler is the first game to utilise Square Enix’s HD-2D graphical style and originally released in 2018, with Octopath Traveler II releasing in 2023. Both games are currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. They follow the intertwined stories of their eight protagonists, each with their own class, though feature independent characters, settings, and stories. Players select one of the protagonists to start their journey, eventually crossing paths with the other heroes and recruiting them to the party, after which they can play through the new recruits’ stories.
