Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 Introduces Protagonist Phyre

Paradox Interactive and The Chinese Room held a new stream for the upcoming Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. In the seventeen-minute stream, The Chinese Room Narrative Director Ian Thomas and Paradox Interactive Executive Vice President Sean Greaney discussed details about the game’s narrative and RPG elements.

The early part of the video features some work-in-progress gameplay footage showing the game’s customisable, fully-voiced protagonist Phyre meeting the character Lou in Seattle. Phyre is an Elder Kindred who has been asleep for 100 years and woken up in modern-day Seattle. While they knows the ins and outs of being a vampire, they don’t know about the modern world. Players are able to select Phyre’s gender and clan as well as select elements of their background, their behaviour, outfits, and more.

The game is intended as a “traditional RPG journey” with players getting more powerful as they progress, but Phyre starts already at a certain level of power, though they haven’t recovered their full power. The game sees Phyre learning more about the world thanks to Fabien, who takes the form of a strange voice in her head.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is a follow-up to 2004 PC title Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines. Bloodlines 2 returns players to the world of the Masquerade, an agreement between all the vampire clans that requires vampires do not reveal themselves to the world. The Chinese Room was recently revealed as the new developer for the game, which is currently planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in fall 2024.
