Kickstarter Check-In: Farsiders, Infinite Mana

RPGamer’s ad hoc Kickstarter Check-In feature returns for a look at two ongoing crowdfunding campaigns. This edition features GambitGhost Studio’s Farsiders, as well as Wonderlust Games’s Infinite Mana.

GambitGhost Studio’s Farsiders is a hack-and-slash action RPG inspired by Arthurian legends but set in a futuristic cyberpunk world. Players control Cassie, the youngest member of a group called the Spectralon, as she is sent to investigate an abandoned island where a group of terrorists called the Soul Syndicate are active. However, the leader of the group manages to send Cassie back in time to the ancient kingdom of Tellune.

The game sees Cassie travelling back and forth between her present, the 2085 metropolis of Ostahl, and the past in Tellune. The game features top-down hack-and-slash combat, with players able to use both technology and magic to enhance Cassie’s chances of survival against the various enemies she encounters.

Farsiders is being developed for PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation and Xbox consoles. It is currently planned to release for PC in summer 2023, with console versions to follow later in the year. The campaign has already passed its CA$40,588 (around $30,000) funding goal and is set to run until May 5, 2023. Those who pledge at least CA$20 (around $15) will receive a digital Steam copy of the game as part of their backer rewards.

Wonderlust Games’s Infinite Mana is a 2.5D RPG that utilises glitch-based mechanics. The game is set in the fantasy world of Arukea, with players controlling an amnesiac protagonist who has the ability to bend reality by “glitching” the world around them and recruits a party of allies during his adventure.

The game features 20 class-like Guises, which impact both combat and exploration. Exploration is said to be a major part of the game, with the protagonist having access to various traversal tools as well as his glitching ability and Guises. The game features numerous sidequests, as well as the ability to build up a base of operations where players can hire NPCs and create their own farm.

Infinite Mana is being developed for PC and is currently planned for release in 2024. The campaign is looking for $41,700 in funding and is set to run until May 3, 2023. Those who pledge at least $25 will receive a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards. A free demo is available to try out on Steam.
