Kickstarter Check-In: Absinthia
Developer Team Bewitched has begun a Kickstarter campaign for turn-based RPG Absinthia. The game is being developed for PC, with PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch releases planned to follow courtesy of Ratalaika Games.
Absinthia takes place in the same world as the developer’s previous titles Knight Bewitched and Celestial Hearts and features an LGBTQ+ cast. It is set in the Ambrose Isles, which is home to a wide variety of locales including a pirate port, a desert kingdom, and isle of beasts. Katti Town is one of its safer havens, however, it finds itself under attack from a horde of shadowy minions led by Lilith. Fortunately, a wandering knight, Freya, appears and takes three villagers — warrior Sera, mage Thomas, and rogue Jake — under her wing to fight off Lilith and her forces. The game’s turn-based combat features a MP-regeneration system with multiple difficulty options, while its length is intended to be around ten-twelve hours.
Team Bewitched is looking for $20,000 in funding, with the campaign set to run until June 29, 2022. Those who pledge at least $15 will receive a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards. The PC version is currently planned for an early 2023 release, with console versions to follow at a later date. A demo is currently available to try out through Steam and itch.io.
