Circus Electrique Presents Gameplay Trailer

Zen Studios and Saber Interactive released a new trailer for Victorian steampunk turn-based RPG Circus Electrique. The four-minute video, narrated by Lead Writer Chris Baker, starts with a quick introduction to the game’s premise, where players are put in charge of a circus whose performers help save the city when everyday Londoners are mysterious turned into vicious killers.

It then shows multiple gameplay elements for the title, which is billed as part story-driven RPG, part tactics, and part circus management. The circus travels around London, encountering turned Londoners known as the Vicious. Encounters see the player’s four-person party facing off against four foes. Players have a variety of performers to choose from for their party, each with their own strengths, weaknesses, and roles. Character positioning plays an important role, with each having their own preferred position, while skills can only be used from and against particular spaces.

Circus Electrique also includes a devotion mechanic, which acts like morale. Characters with higher devotion will hit harder and more accurately, and devotion can be raised with dedicated support skills or items. Characters that lose too much devotion may even choose to leave the circus. In addition, players will need to plan out performances in order to earn resources needed to investigate and put a stop to the chaos.

Circus Electrique is set to released later this year. It will be available on PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
