Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness Story Modes Detailed
Spike Chunsoft provided some more details for the upcoming action RPG Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness. The new update provides details on the game’s two story modes.
The first mode, Hello Abyss, is a retelling of the Made in Abyss manga/anime series. The series is set around a giant hole in the earth named Abyss, which holds remnants of a long-gone civilisation. Players control main protagonist Riko, who is a 12-year-old girl wanting to emulate her mother Lyza — a legendary Cave Raider who disappeared — and delves into Abyss with human-like robot Reg.
The second mode, Deep in Abyss, is an originaly story supervised by series creator Akihito Tsukushi. It puts players in the role of a customised Cave Raider who embarks on solo expeditions to complete missions and bring back relics. Doing so upgrades their Cave Raider rank, letting them descend deeper and take on further challenges.
Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness will include a focus on crafting for things like tools and food, as weight restrictions will likely prevent players from taking everything they want for an expedition with them. The game will also create the series’ “Curse of the Abyss”, which causes Cave Raiders to experience severe strains — physical and mental — as they dive ever deeper.
Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness in development for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. It is expected to launch in fall 2022 and will be available physically and digitally, including in a $89.99 Collector’s Edition.
