Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong Gets Gameplay Trailer

Publisher NACON released the first official gameplay trailer for Big Bad Wolf’s Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong. The three-minute video sets up the events of the game as Hazel Iversen, Prince of the Boston Camarilla, tasks the three playable characters — Galeb Bazory, Emem Louis, and Leysha — with investigating attacks on the Camarilla by unknown assassins.

Each character has a “character sheet” that players can customise; for example, choosing to specialise in persuasion or to be an expert in technology. They also have access to supernatural vampire powers known as the Disciplines. These include Leysha’s presence-concealing Obfuscate, Emem’s ability to access unreachable locations with Celerity, and Galeb’s Domination that lets him control others.

The game will also include scripted sections where players have a limited amount of time to make the correct choices, while certain individuals will initiate Confrontations. These are dialogue-based “combat” encounters requiring players to use the correct arguments, skills, and Disciplines to uncover the person’s secrets. However, using Disciplines comes at the cost of hunger for blood. If the player character’s hunger gets too high, their inner beast takes control. To avoid this, they will need to feed upon the blood of one of the nearby humans, but to maintain the Masquerade they will need to do it out of sight.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong utilises the rules of the fifth edition of the Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop game. It is set to release for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on May 19, 2022.
