New Release Round-Up (March 31, 2022)
Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.
Stealth RPG Abermore puts players in the role of a thief preparing for a grand heist of the royal palace in the eponymous city. Players have eighteen days to take on jobs and grow their reputation to prepare and convince others that they can lead the heist. To help them in their thievery and bounty hunting missions, players have access to crafting and a black market, as well as magic tarot cards.
Coromon is a monster-taming RPG inspired by GBA-era JRPGs. The game sees players journey across the Velua region and collect the eponymous creatures while trying to stop a nefarious organisation from unleashing the Coromon Titans’ powers upon the world. The game features puzzle-filled dungeons as well as multi-stage boss fights. Those interested in reading more about Coromon can check out RPGamer’s impression from E3 2021. A Nintendo Switch version is set to release at a later date.
Action RPG Crystar is themed around the afterlife and was originally released for PlayStation 4 and PC in 2019. It follows Rei Hatada, a young girl who supposedly kills her younger sister Mirai after being drawn into Purgatory. Kowloon High-School Chronicle
Kowloon High-School Chronicle is a remaster of the PlayStation 2 dungeon-crawling RPG Kowloon Youma Gakuen Ki and sees players controlling a transfer student at Kamiyoshi Academy in Shinjuku, Tokyo. Though acting as a normal student, he is a treasure hunter on a mission to uncover a ruin beneath the school. The game features first-person dungeon exploration as well as a distinctive conversation system. Terrorbane is a fourth wall-breaking title that sees the hero working with the developer to create the “perfect” video game, finding and squashing bugs throughout their journey across different environments. Gameplay is inspired by classic JRPGs, though it contains numerous references to a variety of video game genres.
Weird West is an action RPG set in a dark fantasy version of the Wild West. Players control a group of five protagonists with intertwined destinies, with each adventure said to be tailored to the decisions made by players during the game.
