The Elder Scrolls Online: Legacy of the Bretons Content Announced

Bethesda Softworks and ZeniMax Online Studios revealed its upcoming 2022 content releases for MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online. Like previous years, 2022 will feature a multiple pieces of content that tie together in an adventure titled Legacy of the Bretons.

Legacy of the Bretons will kick off with the Ascending Tide DLC, which will release for PC, Mac, and Google Stadia on March 14, 2022, and for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on March 29, 2022. Ascending Tide will add two new four-player dungeons — The Coral Aerie and Shipwright’s Regret — where players investigate the remnants of the All Flags Navy and attack an Ascendant Order. These will set up some of the events in the larger storyline.

Ascending Tide will be followed by the large-scale High Isle expansion, which will release for PC, Mac, and Google Stadia on June 6, 2022, and for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on June 21, 2022. It takes players to the Systres Archipelago. Inspired by the Mediterranean, the Systres Archipelago is home to the Bretons, who are descended from humans and elves. The island of High Isle is central to the region’s dealings, with the social elite living in a feudal society at Gonfalon Bay. In addition to High Isle, players will also vist the island of Amenos as they aim to uncover the secrets of an sinister order of knights, led by the Ascendant Lord, that threatens the security of High Isle.

High Isle’s story is said to include around thirty hours of content. It will include a new twelve-player trial called Dreadsail Reef, as well as two new NPC companions: the Khajiit Ember who grew up on the streets and is adept at magic, and the aspiring Breton knight Isobel. High Isle will also introduce a new card game called Tales of Tribute, which players can play against other players or NPCs. Players unlock new decks and cards as they challenge NPCs across the game, gaining rewards and rising up leaderboards.

High Isle is now available to pre-order in multiple editions. The Elder Scrolls Online Collection: High Isle includes the base The Elder Scrolls Online game and all previous major expansions, while The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle Upgrade provides access solely to High Isle. Both of these options also have a Collector’s Edition option that includes additional in-game items.

High Isle will be followed by two further releases. The titles have not been announced, but a DLC dungeon pack will release in Q3 2022, following by a DLC story zone in Q4 2022.
