New Release Round-Up (October 21, 2021)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases.


Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend

Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend contains the first three games of the SaGa series, which were all released for the Nintendo Game Boy in English under the titles Final Fantasy Legend, Final Fantasy Legend II, and Final Fantasy Legend III. Collection of SaGa Final Fantasy Legend includes character speed boost and adjustable screen magnification options, as well as a retro display mode, commemorative music and illustrations, eight in-game wallpapers, and English and Japanese text. The mobile versions will also include single-handed play controls, while the Steam release will feature a 4K-compatible mode. Disciples: Liberation is a fantasy strategy RPG that puts players in the role of Avyanna, a mercenary destined for bigger things. After an assassination contract goes wrong, she manages to open a portal that brings her to the ancient but empty city of Yllian. Sensing the opportunity to create a new home for her and her companions, Avyanna sets out to find allies from the four major conflicting factions on the land of Nevendaar. Drox Operative 2

Drox Operative 2 is a starship action RPG with a dynamic galaxy. Players are put in the role of the captain of a single starship as multiple species looks to assert dominance. Players can elect to side with the powers of their choosing as they look to earn credits and upgrade their ship.


Evertried

Evertried is set in the afterlife, with players controlling a fallen warrior tasked with ascending a mysterious tower. The tower is divided into fifty floors across five areas, with floors getting more complex as players get higher. If the warrior falls, they dissipate and lose their current powers as they start again from the first floor, but their skill mastery carries over into subsequent runs.


Gloomhaven

Gloomhaven is a tactical RPG based on the tabletop game of the same name. Players recruit a band of mercenaries and lead them through card-driven combat. The game will include a faithful adaptation of the board game’s campaign mode as well as an exclusive Guildmaster Mode that will allow for a more free form approach of mixing and matching classes between scenarios. Killsquad

Killsquad is a fast-paced, action RPG that borrows elements from twin-stick shooter, hack and slash, dungeon crawler, and bullet hell games. Players can choose from five unique heroes with which to play solo or with up to three others in co-op.


The Caligula Effect 2

The Caligula Effect 2 is a follow-up to The Caligula Effect, which later received an enhanced remake titled The Caligula Effect: Overdose. Players control a student in a virtual academy in the world of Redo, a self-proclaimed “paradise” governed by a virtual idol called Regret. They join a resistance called the Go-Home Club to fight against Regret and the Obbligato Musicians and escape Redo.
