We Are the Caretakers Now Available on Steam Early Access

Heart Shaped Games’ We Are the Caretakers is now available through Steam Early Access. The Early Access version is priced at $19.99, with a 20% launch discount available until May 1, 2021. The game is expected to fully launch later this year for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. 10% of the developer’s revenues for the game will go to the Wildlife Conservation Network’s Rhino Recovery Fund.

Heart Shaped Games lists Darkest Dungeon, Ogre Battle, and XCOM as inspirations for We Are the Caretakers. The game is set on an afrofuturist planet when aliens make contact and show interest in a rhino-like species called the Raun. Players control the Conductor and attempt to protect the Raun from poachers by deploying squads of Caretakers. Players will be able to assemble up to nine squads, with the game including over twenty classes and over seventy abilities.
