Kickstarter Check-In: Terra Nova

Terra Nova: Legend of the Runes is an old-school RPG being developed by a group of dedicated programmers, who have launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the game. The game will feature 8 and 16-bit graphics and sounds that can be switched between, which is highlighted in the trailer below.

The story of Terra Nova takes place on a desolate planet in a forgotten sector of space. Eight gods visit the barren planet and decide to bring life to the world and name it after their mother, Nova. Eventually the gods leave and the people of Nova live free of supervision for centuries. Fast-forward to the present day and an ancient artifact of unknown origin is found, which leads to the start of the story.

The game takes inspiration from classic RPGs such as the Final Fantasy series, with turn-based or active-time battle systems. Terra Nova will also feature a palette editor, dual scenarios that allow players to pick between a normal or simplified version of the story, a class change system, graphics filters that can be applied or switched off at any time, and tons of monsters.

Terra Nova is currently being developed for PC, Mac, and Linux, though other platforms will be considered based on the success of the campaign. The developers are looking for $49,400 in funding by May 7, 2020. Those who pledge at least $15 will receive a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards. Terra Nova is expected to launch near the end of 2020 or early 2021.
