Fallout 76 Adding Wastelanders in Fall, After Players Battle in Nuclear Winter

Fallout 76 received some attention during Bethesda Softworks’ E3 Showcase. The first part of its appearance focused on the upcoming Wastelanders update to the game, which is scheduled for this fall. The Wastelanders update refocuses the game’s themes from survival to reclamation, and will add human NPCs, new main quests, choices and consequences, and new weapons and gear.

Bethesda also announced Nuclear Winter, a new battle royale mode. The 52-player mode is a battle to the death started by Vault 51’s ZAX computer to fill the vacant role of Vault Overseer. Players can carry over their Adventure Mode character into Nuclear Wasteland, though the character level will not impact damage dealt or received in the mode. Familiar mechanics will be present, including Power Armor, perks, C.A.M.P.s, and wasteland creatures. Multiple balance adjustments apply to the new mode to better suit the gameplay and its map size, with details about the adjustments available on the game’s website.

Nuclear Winter will be available to preview in a special sneak peek running from June 10-17, 2019. During this period, Fallout 76 itself will also be freely available to try out for those who do not own the game. Both updates will be free to all players of Fallout 76.
