Hideo Baba Leaves Studio Istolia, Square Enix

Square Enix has announced that Hideo Baba, the president of Square Enix’s subsidiary Studio Istolia, has left the company. According to the press release, he left his position at Studio Istolia in December 2018 before leaving Square Enix fully in March 2019. A translated version of the press release reads:

Accompanying the change in Studio Istolia’s management policies, I have resigned as the company’s president as of the end of December 2018, and resigned from Square Enix as of the end of March 2019. Thank you again to Square Enix Group for giving me a variety of experience. I will continue to support everyone from behind the scenes, and I sincerely hope for the further growth of Square Enix Group.

Hideo Baba was previously known for his role at Bandai Namco, where he was brand manager and producer for the Tales series from 2007 to 2016. He joined Square Enix at the newly-founded Studio Istolia in February 2017. It is not known whether his departure will affect Studio Istolia’s Project Prelude Rune, which was officially revealed at TGS in 2018.
