PlayStation LineUp Tour Presentation Round-Up

Sony held its pre-TGS PlayStation LineUp Tour presentation today in Tokyo, Japan. The presentation — viewable in full below in English along with the individual trailers for the RPGs involved — showcased various games coming to PlayStation 4, including some new announcements.

The presentation opened with some footage for Cygames’ Project Awakening. The video for the game, which was originally announced in 2016, shows a fantasy sword-and-shield setting, with the main character fighting against a large monster. This was followed by a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III focused on the new world based on Big Hero 6. In addition, Square Enix also revealed a Kingdom Hearts VR experience, with more details to be revealed later.

A short teaser showed the first footage of the debut project from Square Enix’s new development studio Studio Istolia, which is being run by former Tales series producer Hibeo Baba. The game is not officially titled yet but is known as Project Prelude Rune.

A new announcement appeared in the form of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remaster. A remaster of the original Nintendo GameCube title and set for release in 2019, the game will feature worldwide multiplayer. Square Enix subsequently confirmed that the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch in addition to PlayStation 4.

Bandai Namco’s God Eater 3 received both a new trailer and a release date for Japan of December 13, 2018. It is not yet confirmed if the release date for the game — which will also be available on PC in addition to PlayStation 4 — applies worldwide.

Although on the periphery of coverage, Sega’s Toshihiro Nagoshi announced a new game from Yakuza developer RyĆ« ga Gotoku Studio titled Judge Eyes (given a working title of Project Judge in English). The game is a detective drama and is set to be released in Japan on December 13, 2018, and in the west in 2019. The presentation also featured various other non-RPGs including Left Alive, Days Gone, Dead or Alive 6, and others.

Incredibly excited for Judge Eyes; a new IP from the Yakuza devs very clearly in the Dragon engine? I can’t wait! It looks fascinating
