Square Enix’s Studio Istolia Closed, Project Prelude Rune Cancelled

Following the deactivation of its social media accounts and removal of its dedicated website, Square Enix has confirmed that Studio Istolia is no longer in operation and that its planned debut title, Project Prelude Rune, has been cancelled. In a statement to USGamer, Square Enix stated:

Following evaluation of various aspects of Project Prelude Rune, development of the title has been cancelled. Studio Istolia is no longer in operation and we have been taking appropriate steps to assign studio staff to other projects within the Square Enix Group.

Studio Istolia was founded in February 2017, headed by Hideo Baba, former brand manager and producer for the Tales series, with Project Prelude Rune revealed at TGS 2018. Hideo Baba announced last month that he had left both Studio Istolia and Square Enix.
