Mutant Year Zero Shows Some Tactical Combat

Funcom and The Bearded Ladies have released a new video for their upcoming tactical RPG Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. The three-and-a-half-minute video, viewable below, gives an overview of the game’s tactical combat system with Game Director Lee Varley detailing some of the ideas behind it. Encounters feature a real-time phase, where the party stealthily explores the area and gathers intel. Players can then use this intel to adjust their loadout — and perhaps take out some unaware opponents — before getting into the turn-based tactical combat.

Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden combines tactical turn-based combat with real-time exploration and stealth. Its story follows anthropomorphic animals as they hope to survive in a post-apocalyptic version of Sweden following the fall of human civilisation. The game is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on December 4, 2018.
