Dragon Quest XI Celebrates Release with Launch Trailer, Creator Interview

To commemorate the release of its eagerly-anticipated JRPG Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, Square Enix today released the game’s official launch trailer. With almost three minutes of in-game cinematics, the trailer ushers players into the journey of the Luminary to rid his world of a great evil, and of the companions who accompany him on this quest. As a bonus, a video interview with series creator Yuji Horii, recorded at Japan’s Summer Festival, sees the developer answer questions submitted by fans. Viewers can find out what Horii-san thinks about silent protagonists, his dedication for combat to remain turn-based, and his favorite Dragon Quest character, before learning once and for all which slime is the most powerful of them all.

Dragon Quest XI is the first console entry in the series in over a decade, and is out now for PC and PlayStation 4. The western version comes with the all-new Draconian Quest mode, adding several optional gameplay variables to increase its challenge as players see fit. Those on the fence about the game can check out RPGamer’s review here.
