Langrisser I & II Remake Announced

Masaya Games and Chara-Ani have announced Langrisser I & II, a collection of full remakes for the first two titles in the Langrisser tactical RPG series. The remakes are being developed for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan, with no release date announced. An official teaser website is now open — which indicates that the remakes will not use the original character designs from Satoshi Urushihara — with more details expected in a formal presentation next week.

The first Langrisser game was originally released for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and PC Engine/TurboGrafx-16 in Japan in 1991 and brought to the west under the title Warsong. Langrisser II is set several hundred years after the first game, was originally released in Japan in 1994 for the Sega Mega Drive, and later remade for the Super Famicom under the title Der Langrisser.
