Guild Wars Afterlife DLC Announced

ArenaNet and 2weeks have announced new DLC for Guild Wars, the MMORPG’s first paid DLC in nearly twenty years. Titled Guild Wars Afterlife, the DLC will be available for its recent Guild Wars Reforged re-release and launch on January 13, 2027, for PC, iOS, and Android. It will be priced at $29.99, with a launch discount available.

Afterlife takes players through the Mists of Tyria to the land of Xotecha. Here, the Order of Moonless Night needs the player’s help to fight the rising tide of Nightmares and mysterious Cult of Odran, as well as take on a new ever-changing dungeon, called the Unformed. The Unformed sees players selecting a starting loadout before taking on a sequence of maps, enemies, and bosses. After each successful encounter, players engage in a skill-drafting system to choose new abilities, not limited to their character’s primary or secondary professions.

Guild Wars released for PC in April 2005 and is set on the fantasy world of Tyria. The game features a one-time purchase model for its content and does not use subscription fees. Its Reforged version released for PC in December 2025 and mobile in June 2026, free for those who own the original release, including all three story campaigns. Its sequel, Guild Wars 2, was released in 2012 with the same business model and is also still running, while Guild Wars 3 is currently in development.
