Guild Wars Celebrates 20th Anniversary with New Edition

NCSoft is marking the twentieth anniversary of MMORPG Guild Wars this month. As part of the celebrations, the company is releasing a new Guild Wars: The 20th Anniversary Masterpiece Collection. The edition contains all three of the game’s standalone campaigns — Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall — as well as the Eye of the North expansion and the Bonus Mission Pack. It is available to purchase from the Guild Wars 2 online store, currently with an 80% discount.

In addition, NCSoft announced that a content update will be coming to the game. The update will add various promotional items that were only obtainable as pre-orders and territorial bonuses from the mid-2000s as rare drops from high-level enemies. An in-game Anniversary festival will also run until May 6, 2025, and allow players to obtain previously limited-release minis as non-tradeable items from Merrise in Embark Beach. It will also add new weapon upgrades for main-hand weapons.

Guild Wars released for PC in April 2005 and is set on the fantasy world of Tyria. The game features a one-time purchase model for its content and does not use subscription fees. Its sequel, Guild Wars 2, was released in 2012 with the same business model and is also still running.
