The only thing I can come up with is Game Freak/Nintendo/The Pokémon Company’s insistence on coming out with a new generation every three years since the fourth generation (and indeed, the only time it was longer than three years was between the third and fourth generations). The last two generations particularly felt rushed and undercooked, yet Pokémon games sell like crazy anyway. I don’t mind that they aren’t the best they can be since I have a lot of fun with them, anyway.
It seems that Game Freak or whoever is in charge of these decisions is taking more with with this cycle. If Gen Ten comes out next year, that that will be another four year gap since Gen Nine. I certainly wouldn’t mind if they take until 2027. They should take all of the time they need!
