Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Showcases Sciel, More Details Revealed

Publisher Kepler Interactive and developer Sandfall Interactive released a new character trailer for the upcoming Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The latest video introduces the warm and outgoing Sciel, a former farmer who became a teacher before joining the expedition. Although cheerful, she carries the memories of a painful past and is at ease with death.

In addition, the companies provided more details about Clair Obscur: Expedition 33‘s performance, its launch, and achievements. Players will be able to fine-tune the graphics of the game’s PC version to their liking, with settings and pre-sets ranging from Low to Epic. Meanwhile, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X players will be able to play the game in either Performance or Quality graphics modes to improve framerate or image resolution respectively. The game will be PlayStation 5 Pro Enhanced, enabling enhanced performance on PlayStation 5 Pro. It will also support the Xbox Play Anywhere feature on Xbox Series X|S. Though Xbox players can currently pre-load the game, the digital release will be synced globally to launch at 12 am PDT.

The game will have fifty-five achievements (fifty-six including the platinum trophy for PlayStation 5) to unlock such as reaching level thirty-three, using a fully charged Overcharge to break an enemy, finding all of the journals from prior expeditions, defeating a boss without sustaining any damage, and finding thirty-three music records.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG set in a world where, once a year, a being called the Paintress wakes and paints a cursed number upon a monolith, which causes everyone of that age to turn to smoke and disappear. Each year, that number ticks down, with the current year set to be the number 33. Players join Gustave and other members of an expedition that sets out, in the footsteps of previous failed expeditions, to try and end the cycle of death once and for all. Players will be able to create their own builds for their party with gear, attributes, skills, and synergies. Combat will utilise a free aim system to let players target weak points, as well as to dodge, parry, and counter in real time. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will release on April 24, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
