Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous week. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

Atlus’s Metaphor: ReFantazio comes as a serious contender for the crown on this year’s game awards. Luis Mauricio reports that its presentation, story, and how its mechanics are blended make it a must-play for RPGamers.

Bloomtown: A Different Story appears to take heavy inspiration from the Persona franchise and Stranger Things. Ryan Costa sees whether its blend of elements from both series manages to impress.

A strange affliction is spreading across an island and the person in charge has gone missing. RPGamer’s Zack Webster was able to check out the opening section of Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed.


Major News

Grinding Gear Games held an hour-long preview presentation for Path of Exile 2 ahead of the game’s Early Access launch. The presentation features a first look at the free-to-play action RPG endgame content.

Brace Yourself Games’s latest rhythm RPG is set to release for PC in February. Rift of the NecroDancer sees Cadence returning to battle monsters with new music-based combat.

Larian Studios revealed that the Patch 8 update for Baldur’s Gate III will release early next year. The update will include cross-play, new subclasses and a photo mode.

Following the announcement of Final Fantasy XIV Mobile, Square Enix posted an interview with Final Fantasy XIV Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida. In the thirteen-minute video, he discusses the creation of the MMORPG’s mobile version.

Square Enix and NetEase Games announced that the latter is taking over service operations for mobile RPG Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent. The transfer will happen in January.

Spike Chunsoft announced a PC release date for Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. The roguelike dungeon-crawler will be available through Steam in a couple of weeks.
