NetEase Games will be taking over the service operations of the international version of the game from Square Enix on January 16, 2025. NetEase Games already operates the Southeast Asian and Chinese versions, while Square Enix will continue to operate the Japanese version. Square Enix provided the following message regarding the transfer:
First, we’d like to thank all the players of Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.
As of Thursday, January 16, 2025, service operations for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent will be transferred to NetEase Interactive Entertainment.
With the 2.5-year anniversary approaching in January 2025, we decided that the best way to continue to provide quality content for everyone was to work in collaboration with NetEase.
As for additional main story content and such for which we’ve received many requests everything is planned for release after operations have been transferred to NetEase.
Players will of course be able to transfer their game data and continue their adventures. Please see the in-game notices for more information regarding the data transfer process.
We are sincerely grateful for all the support we have received for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.
We hope you look forward to future developments that we will continue to offer with our partner, NetEase.
