RPGamer Round-Up: July 21 – July 28

Welcome to the latest edition of RPGamer’s round-up column, where we look back at some of the articles that we have posted over the previous week. This article is designed to give reminders of some interesting content and stories that our readers might have missed.

Elden Ring is an incredible title, but still has some issues. Ezra Kinnell looks into the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and discovers that it highlights both the game’s strengths and its weaknesses.

Chinese action RPG Fate Seeker II made its international debut on PS5 earlier this month. Ryan Costa finds that the poor translation of a dialogue-heavy title makes it a very tough recommendation.

The recent DLC for Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical features the lord of rock himself, Orpheus. Sam Wachter finds it well worth of the time while somehow being reminded of Natasha Bedingfield.


Major News

EA and BioWare revealed the main cast for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. RPGamers will have four voice options for protagonist Rook, who will be joined by seven companions.

Square Enix and Ouka Studios revealed more details about action RPG Visions of Mana. These new details include information about supporting character Aesh, the elemental vessels, and more.

663 Games and Shadowlight Sanctuary announced Kill the Shadow. The game is a narrative-driven detective RPG and is set to release on Steam later this year.

V Publishing and Bad Ridge Games revealed a September release date for Mirthwood. Meanwhile, a new trailer highlights the game’s world simulation elements.

Akatsuki Games and Too Kyo Games revealed the dates for its closed beta test of Tribe Nine. The Deadly Playtest will run for a week on Steam in August.

Parent company Ziff Davis has laid off the full team at publisher Humble Games. Although billed as a restructuring, no staff remain and operations are being handed over to a third-party.

Nihon Falcom provided some more details for The Legend of Heroes: Kai no Kiseki – Farewell, O Zemuria. The latest update introduces a virtual world called the Grim Garten.
