  1. I’ve never actually cried playing a video game, but I have gotten close a few times. The last game’s ending that got me a little misty-eyed was Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon. The game seemingly ends on a happy note, but there is some narration from an older Seto that suggests it won’t last long.

Oh, and Pokemon actually did have both Triple Battles and Rotation Battles in generations five and six. Triple Battles were similar to Double Battles, although there is an importance on a Pokemon’s placement on the field. Rotation Battles only had one Pokemon attacking at a time, but a Pokemon can attack and rotate out of the front spot during the same turn.

I remembered Triple Battles and Rotation Battles in Black & White and Black 2 & White 2, but I completely forgot they were in XY and Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire. These battle variations were neat and Triple Battles felt more like traditional RPG parties. Sadly, they were underutilized in the games they did appear in and haven’t been used in the series since.

I’m no robot – songs, films, books, even the odd commercial have all made me cry – but I don’t recall that any game has ever brought me to tears. Apart from tears of frustration. There are many culprits there. If I had to pick one game that might have got me, maybe the ending of Crisis Core? It was certainly very powerful.
