One Piece Odyssey Trailer Highlights Its Systems
Bandai Namco released another trailer for One Piece Odyssey. The eleven-minute systems trailer highlights various facets of the game, including its story premise, combat, and exploration.
The game features a turn-based battle system, and battles are encountered while exploring. Combat features a rock-paper-scissors mechanic for its main attack types, as well as a randomised poisitioning system. Players will also get mini-missions during combat, which if accomplished grant boosts to experience and rewards.
Players are able to wander the game’s various locations and freely switch which party member is being controlled. Each character has their own unique field actions, which lets them overcome different obstacles and pick up different items found while exploring. Dungeons will include a variety of puzzles, and the game will also have crafting systems.
At campfires, players can have a “party”, which grants additional experience for upcoming battles, while players can also identify rare enemies ahead of combat that grant extra experience. The game’s equipment system lets every character equip any item, with each party member given their own grid onto which equippable items are placed.
One Piece Odyssey helps mark the manga series’ 25th anniversary with its story supervised by series creator Eiichiro Oda. The game will feature nine playable characters — Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky, and Brook — with the game voiced by its original Japanese anime voice cast. One Piece Odyssey will release on January 13, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a demo to be released on January 10, 2023.
