Stygian: Outer Gods Announced

Publisher Fulqrum Publishing and developer Misterial Games have announced that the survival horror game Stygian: Outer Gods will be making its way to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, in 2025. The game, which was unveiled during the Lovecraftian Days Steam festival, can be wishlisted on Steam.

Stygian: Outer Gods is set in the same universe as Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones and takes place before the events of the Black Day. Players assume the role of a mercenary escorting a mysterious girl through the colony of Kingsport to unveil her family’s secrets. After being shipwrecked, the mercenary encounters horrors that have plagued the area for many centuries.

Players will solve puzzles, open new paths, and explore locations such as an old village, a mansion, dark mines, cemeteries, foggy forests, and an old lighthouse in an attempt to maintain their sanity and prevent the arrival of the ancient Outer Gods. The events in the game cause mental afflictions that impact gameplay and are more fatal than physical damage. To combat this, players will hunt for materials, and recipes, and craft necessary tools, medicines, and remedies to survive the nightmare. The game features roleplay mechanics such as unlocking new abilities, discovering eldritch artifacts, and interacting with the environment in different ways, which affect how the world reacts to the player depending on the play style and the character’s sanity level. There are consequences for every action and decision made, which have an impact on the overall story, with a variety of endings available.

I have been gaming since I received the Sega Master System as a young child, which was the first console I ever owned (Yes, I am that old). The game that got me into RPGs was Final Fantasy VIII, a game that I still adore to this day. My favorite RPG of all time, however, is Shadow Hearts on the PS2. I do have many other interests outside of gaming as well, such as watching old-school wrestling, Reading books, 80s movies.... or anything 80s related as a matter of fact.
