R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos Gets Extra Content Kickstarter

Granzella has begun a Kickstarter campaign for its upcoming R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos, remakes of strategy RPGs R-Type Tactics and R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate. The campaign will fund additional content for the releases. The planned content — to be released as paid DLC — features 24 new missions, including new side stories, as well as additional units such as trans-dimensional fighters and Bydo weapons from the main R-Type series that did not feature in the original Tactics releases.

R-Type Tactics and R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate originally release for the PlayStation Portable. The first game was released in North America by Atlus (under the title R-Type Command) and in Europe by Rising Star Games, while its sequel was only released in Japan. R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos is planned to release worldwide in summer 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, with NIS America publishing the game in North America and Europe.

The additional content Kickstarter campaign has already passed its ¥4,000,000 (around $29,000) funding goal and is set to run until November 30, 2022. Those who pledge at least ¥2,200 (around $16) will receive a code for the content.
