Monark Trailer Shows Combat

NIS America released a new trailer for its upcoming western release for FuRyu and Lancarse’s Monark. The 90-second video shows the game’s turn-based combat system, featuring the song “Pleiades” with vocals from Harusaruhi.

Monark is developed by FuRyu and Lancarse and features contributions from developers of the original Shin Megami Tensei. The game — which launched in Japan in October — is set in an academy within a mysterious realm known as the Otherworld. The academy is cut off from the real world and hosts a Mist that is driving students mad. Players team up and build relationships with four classmates, taking the role of vice president for the group’s True Student Council. Monark will release for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch in North America and for PC worldwide on February 22, 2022, with the European PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch versions following on February 25, 2022.

I’d kinda like Monark to be good, and it does look interesting. We could do with more mid-tier RPG developers (away from smartphones). I fear I will get awfully tired of all the black and red, though!
