Kickstarter Check-In: Arisen

Belgian developer Maratus has begun a Kickstarter campaign (note: link includes one image containing full nudity and may not be safe for work) for its card-based, story-driven title Arisen. The game is set in the original fantasy world of Var’Nagal, with the player character being kidnapped by foreign soldiers and sold into slavery on the island of Maccialatt.

Arisen is narrative-focused with players expressing themselves using cards representing their emotions. Choices will impact the cards available in the deck, potentially granting new response opportunities down the line and access to multiple endings. Players can select a male, female, or non-binary character with the game including six potential romanceable characters.

Maratus is looking for €30,000 in funding by October 15, 2020. Those who pledge at least €20 will receive a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards. Arisen is being developed for PC and currently expected to launch in 2021. Those interested in trying the game out can download its prologue on Steam and Itch.io.
