Gamescom Trailer Shows Unexplored 2 Gameplay with Developer Commentary
In a trailer released as part of IGN Live X Gamescom, developer Ludomotion showed off five minutes of gameplay from its upcoming roguelite action RPG Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer’s Legacy. Narrated by Game Director Joris Dormans and Composer and Audio Designer Matthijs Dierckx, the trailer follows the nameless hero on a procedurally generated quest to awaken a magical statue known as a Flow Elemental. Awaking it will cause more powerful magic to flow into the world, impacting it for all future generations of player characters.
Unexplored 2 utilizes a legacy system in which the actions of past heroes affect those that follow. Character death is permanent, but players are given the option of guiding a new hero to continue the fallen one’s quest of destroying the mysterious Staff of Yendor, or starting fresh with a new adventurer in a brand-new world. The game will release in Q1 2021, launching simultaneously on Xbox One and Xbox Series X, as well as PC via the Epic Games Store. Those wishing to take part in a PC beta test on the Epic Games Store in the coming weeks can sign up here.
I sincerely hope this game is as fun as the first. I’ve spent a minimum of a hundred hours on the first game and still have barely only unlocked half of the trophies and am still missing a character class. It’s that random and it’s that engrossing. I’d honestly love to see a Unexplored Redux or Unexplored 1.5 with all new items, recipes, tilesets and bonus runs but that’ll probably not happen.
Anyone know any other games like this one I can grab? I’d prefer console but I’d look at PC games as well.
Have never played the first one, but am digging this art style.
