Neptunia Virtual Stars Heading West in 2021

Idea Factor International has announced that Compile Heart’s music-focused hack-and-slash titled VVVtunia will be coming to North America and Europe under the title Neptunia Virtual Stars. The game will release physically and digitally sometime in 2021. It will come with Japanese voiceovers with English subtitles. Compile Heart recently revealed that the game’s Japanese release has been pushed back to August 6, 2020.

Neptunia Virtual Stars takes place in a dimension known as Virtualand, the planets of which produce a commodity called content. One of these planets, EMO ends up attacked by a group aiming to destroy content. At the same time, VTubers from Earth end up transported to Virtualand and are captured by this group. Two groups join forces to answer a distress call given by EMO’s leader: Mi and Yu, two rising VTubers in the group MEWTRAL, as well as the Goddesses of Gamindustri, Neptune, Noire, Blanc, and Vert.

Gameplay sees players switching on the fly between ranged and melee combat. Background music plays a role in boss battles, potentially changing conditions and unlocking special attacks, while VTubers can randomly appear in support roles. Neptunia Virtual Stars also features a BeatTik rhythm game.
