More Yo-kai Watch Jam: Yo-kai Academy Y Details Released

Level-5 revealed more details about its upcoming Yo-kai Watch spin-off, Yo-kai Watch Jam: Yo-kai Academy Y – Waiwai Gakuen Seikatsu. Yo-kai Watch Jam: Yo-kai Academy Y is set around the elite Y Academy. It stars new protagonist Jinpei Jiba, a member of the YSP Club. The club’s members investigate mysteries around the academy and the surrounding Academy City.

During the game, players will run across numerous free events involving people from the academy, such as a love confession or an argument. Players can choose whether to intervene or let things play out. Achieving good outcomes rewards players with Likes, which helps the community around the academy grow. In addition to these free events, there are also mysteries involving spirits called onryo. These onyro cause incidents to occur around the academy and it is up to the YSP Club to resolve them.

The action combat, which sees the YSP Club transforming into Yo-kai Heroes, also makes use of Likes. When players get into combat they will usually draw a crowd. If players defeat their enemies stylishly, they will gain more Likes, but mistakes may see the crowd getting bored and leaving.

Yo-kai Watch Jam: Yo-kai Academy Y – Waiwai Gakuen Seikatsu is being developed for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, and is set to launch in Japan this summer. No announcement has been made regarding a western release.
