Shoujo Jigoku no Doku Musume Gets New Info, Trailer
Nippon Ichi has revealed new information about the recently-announced Shoujo Jigoku no Doku Musume, as well as screenshots, artwork, and a first trailer, all viewable below. Players will take control of the protagonist, either male or female, who finds themselves transported to hell for an unknown reason. In order to escape, they join forces with the Poison Maiden, a resident of hell who fuses with the protagonist. With her assistance, they must fight against Delusional Beings, other fallen girls who are also after the protagonist’s body, and purify Poison Swamps created by the strong emotions of these Delusional Beings.
Combat takes the form of third-person shooting, using different varieties of poison bullets acquired throughout the game, like rapid fire and scattershot. Purifying the Poison Swamps is done by physically encircling a part of it, which then clears the poison in that area, though the protagonist will take more damage the longer he wades through the poison. The game takes place in various Maiden Hells, each one reflecting the emotions of the girl who created it, such as the Hell of a Girl with Pink Fantasies or the Hell of a Girl Who Died Without Fulfilling a Promise.
Players will run into other characters on their journeys, such as the White Poison Maiden and the Girl in Black, another human/Poison Maiden team similar to the player that is also trying to purify hell. A special radio program, called Higan Radio, alerts players to new outbreaks of Poison Swamps as well as the sad cries of the girls who created them.
Shoujo Jigoku no Doku Musume, which translates roughly to “Poison Maiden of Girl Hells”, is due to release in Japan for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on June 25, 2020. No announcement has been made regarding a western release at this time.
