Kickstarter Check-In: Alder’s Blood
Shockwork Games’ Alder’s Blood is a turn-based tactical stealth game currently undergoing a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. The game features a Victorian/Western fantasy setting, with players leading a crew of hunters on a quest to kill a corrupted god. The quest is made even more dangerous by the presence of monsters and the darkness, which can summon additional monsters.
Players will need to manage resources and pick their battles carefully, as hunters are unlikely to emerge victorious in straight one-on-one fights. Aspects like wind direction and clever use of tools will be important to survival as the party attempts to avoid enemy ambushes and set up their own.
Alder’s Blood is being developed for PC and Nintendo Switch, though PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are also being considered. Shockwork Games is looking for $12,000 in funding, with the campaign set to end on September 5, 2019. Those who pledge at least $20 will receive a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards. The game is currently planned for release in early 2020.
