Nintendo Shows Some Indie Highlights

Nintendo provided a new presentation video, showcasing some of the indie titles heading to or available now on Nintendo Switch. A number of the games appearing in the twenty-minute video below will be of interest to RPGamers: Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom, Streets of Rogue, Bad North, Moonlighter, Children of Morta, and Slay the Spire.

Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is a platform adventure RPG set to be released on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on November 6, 2018, with those looking to learn more able to read Pascal Tekaia’s impression from E3. Streets of Rogue is a fast-paced rogue-lite borrowing elements from many genres and set to be released in winter 2018 on PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It is currently in Early Access on Steam. Bad North is a real-time tactical rogue-lite where players attempt to defend their island from Viking invaders and is out now on Nintendo Switch and coming soon to PC, other consoles, and mobile.

Moonlighter will be familiar to some RPGamers having released earlier this year on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Those looking to learn more ahead of its fall 2018 release on Switch can check out Charalampos Papdimitriou’s review of its PlayStation 4 version. Children of Morta is a hack-and-slash roguelike where player control various members of the Bergson family acting as guardians of a mountain. The game is set to be released on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch in early 2019. Finally, Slay the Spire is a hybrid between turn-based rogue-lite and deckbuilder set for release on PC, Mac, and Linux later this year and Nintendo Switch in early 2019.
