Lufia I & II The Sinistrals Saga Announced for 2027

Clear River Games and Taito have announced Lufia I & II The Sinistrals Saga, a remastered collection of the first two games in the Lufia series. The collection, containing Lufia & the Fortress of Doom and Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals, will release for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027. Physical editions will be available for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Both games are turn-based RPGs originally developed by Neverland and released for Super Famicon/Super Nintendo. Lufia & the Fortress of Doom released in Japan and North America in 1993, published by Taito. The game is set 100 years after a band of heroes defeated the evil Sinistrals, gods seeking to rule over the world. However, the Sinistrals make their return, with the game following a player-named hero — a descendant of one of the original heroes — and a mysterious girl named Lufia, who set out to seal away the gods once more.

Meanwhile, Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals released in Japan in 1995, published by Taito, with a North American release from Natsume following in 1996 and a European release from Nintendo in 1997. The game follows the events a hundred years prior to those of Lufia & the Fortress of Doom, following the hero Maxim and his soon-to-be-legendary party. The game also received a reimagining as an action RPG in 2010’s Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals on Nintendo DS.
