Terranigma Coming to Modern Consoles

Clear River Games announced a modern re-release of Quintet’s Terranigma. The Super Famicom/Super Nintendo title will be releasing the action RPG in early 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. The new release is being created with the support of original character designer and manga artist Kamui Fujiwara, who is providing new key art and in-game designs, plus production feedback.

Terranigma was originally released in Japan in 1995 by Enix. Due to the closure of Enix’s North American branch, the game was never released there, but did get a European and Australian release in 1996 courtesy of Nintendo. The game tells the story of the resurrection of Earth, which at the time of the game is divided between the external Lightside and internal Darkside. It follows Ark, a young boy from the Darkside village of Crysta and unaware of the outside world, who opens a forbidden door and sets world-changing events into motion.
