Darkest Dungeon Receives Surprise New DLC
Red Hook Studios announced that, six years after its most recent DLC for the game, it will be releasing new DLC for Darkest Dungeon. The Fire’s Edge is planned to release on August 18, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch, with an Xbox One release to follow later. It will add two new playable characters who debuted in the game’s sequel Darkest Dungeon II: The Duelist and The Runaway. It will also add the Burn mechanic used by The Runaway and three new districts — the Academie Duello, the Craftworks, and the Archaeological Base Camp — as well as new Trinkets, new events, new writing, and more.
Darkest Dungeon is a gothic turn-based RPG that initially released in 2016 for PC before also launching on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game sees players leading a team of flawed heroes seeking to redeem the family name by driving back unspeakable horrors. It has received four previous DLC, the first three available on all platforms and the fourth available on PC only: The Shieldbreaker, The Crimson Court, The Color of Madness, and The Butcher’s Circus.
