Science-Fantasy MMORPG Stars Reach Releasing in Early Access This Summer

Developer Playable Worlds announced that its science-fantasy MMORPG Stars Reach will release on Steam Early Access this summer. The Early Access version will be available in three tiers — the $29.99 Firstlight Pack, the $49.99 Voyager Pack, and the $79.99 Cosmonaut Pack — with each offering rewards and cosmetic items. The initial Early Access will include exploration across multiple planets, resource gathering and harvesting, combat, a crafting system, and player trade, with future features to include a planet-eating hive mind that players must collectively defend against, factions and political structures, and PvP.

Stars Reach is created by Raph Koster, designer of Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies. The open-ended game sees players explore planets in a simulated universe, building homes and settlements as well as gathering resources, crafting, trading, fighting, governing, and more. Each world is said to have its own climates, seasons, resources, and environment conditions, with players able to settle them, establish governments, and impose taxes. It features a classless progression system with both on-ground and ship-based combat.
